LaboratoryLevel of tumor invasion [Type] in Colorectal cancer specimen by Haggitt
Definition
The Haggitt classification for tumor invasion is a 0-4 level system developed to assess depth of invasion in pedunculated polyps compared to sessile polyps. In level 0, the carcinoma is confined to the mucosa. Levels 1 through 3 represent varying degrees of invasion into the polyp stalk. Level 4 represents invasion into the submucosa. All sessile malignant polyps are level 4 by definition.[PMID: 4007423]
