94442-1

Laboratory

HLA-A and B and C (class I) IgG with prozone effect [Identifier] in Serum or Plasma by Flow cytometry (FC)

Definition

Sometimes high titer antibody can be associated with low levels of detection (low mean fluorescence intensity, MFI, for the Luminex HLA bead assay), a phenomenon often referred to as the "prozone" effect. This term is intended to report those antibodies that were not detected with original sample, but became detectable after dilution or assay treatment. Some laboratories refer to these "prozone antigens observed", meaning those antigens for which the patient's antibody exhibited prozone effect.
