LaboratorySulfocysteine, Hypoxanthine, Xanthine, Urate and Creatinine panel - Urine
Definition
This panel contains quantitative results for s-sulfocysteine, xanthine, hypoxanthine and uric acid in urine specimens. Testing is performed for the diagnosis of or monitoring patients being treated for molybdenum cofactor deficiency (MoCD, also known as type III xanthinuria), isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency (ISOD) and hereditary xanthinuria. Urine s-sulfocysteine is elevated in both MoCD and ISOD, which have similar clinical phenotypes. Hypoxanthine and xanthine are increased in MoCD but normal in ISOD. Patients with xanthinuria have increased xanthine and decreased uric acid concentrations in urine.
