Microorganism molecular resistance panel by Molecular genetics method

Definition

This panel is used to report the results for molecular microorganism resistance testing and includes terms to report the resistance genes, target sequences and/or mutations tested for and identified, as well as the predicted susceptibility or resistance to one or more antimicrobials based on the genotyping results. The panel includes a representative set of LOINC terms for various antimicrobials, but any LOINC term for antimicrobial susceptibility by genotyping may be used as appropriate depending on genes and/or mutations tested for. Note that a single instance of the terms included in the panel is used to report the results for a single resistance gene or mutation, so if more than one gene or mutation was tested for, the panel should be repeated for each one. For example, if a particular assay targets both the rpoB and katG resistance genes for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, then the first instance of the panel would be used to report the molecular results for rpoB and predicted susceptibility for rifampin, and the second instance would be used for katG and isoniazid. If using HL7 v2 messaging, the results would be linked using OBX-4.
