Laboratory

Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Ehrlichia sp DNA panel - Blood Qualitative by NAA with non-probe detection

Definition

This panel contains ordinal results for detection of nucleic acids within the groEL gene of pathogenic Anaplasma phagocytophilum and various Ehrlichia species. This test is for evaluating patients suspected of acute anaplasmosis or ehrlichiosis. The submitter's lab confirms the presence of the specific organism nucleic acid by performing a melting curve analysis of the targeted amplicon. The submitter's assay is able to detect and differentiate among Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Ehrlichiosis chaffeensis, Ehrlichia muris eauclairensis, and Ehrlichia ewingii/canis. The assay cannot differentiate between Ehrlichia ewingii and Ehrlichia canis due to close proximity of the melting curves.
