ClinicalRight atrial Intrachamber pressure estimated by US
Definition
Right atrial pressure (RAP) can be estimated based on the diameter and collapsibility of the inferior vena cava (IVC) during inspiration as measured by ultrasound. Smaller diameter with greater than 50% collapsibility generally indicates normal RAP, while larger diameter and less than 50% collapsibility may indicate elevated RAP. The estimated RAP can be combined with tricuspid regurgitant jet velocity measurement to estimate the systolic right ventricular pressure [LOINC: 82341-9]. [PMID: 20620859]
