81755-1
LaboratoryLymphocyte proliferation.Interleukin 2.maximum/CD45 in Blood by Flow cytometry (FC)
Definition
The percent of proliferating lymphocytes stimulated by exogenous interleukin-2 (IL-2) out of the total CD45 cell population. The maximum (highest proliferating out of 3 titrations) response to IL-2 is reported. This is a second-level test for assessing lymphocyte (T-cell) function after lymphocyte proliferation to phytohemagglutinin has been assessed. The test is used to evaluate patients with impairment in cellular immunity due to primary or secondary immunodeficiencies and in patients receiving immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory therapy.
