Detection of nucleic acid sequences in the human metapneumovirus (hMPV) A polymerase/large protein (L) gene and hMPV B nucleoprotein (N) gene by PCR-based methods. This test does not differentiate between the mMPV A and B species. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Verigene® Respiratory Pathogens Flex Nucleic Acid Test (RP Flex), a multiplexed, qualitative test for the detection and identification of multiple viral and bacterial genetic virulence markers from nasopharyngeal swab specimens.
