80516-8
LaboratoryLambda light chains.free [Mass/volume] in Serum by Nephelometry
Definition
This nephelometric assay provides a sensitive test for monitoring patients with monoclonal light chain diseases but no M-spike on protein electrophoresis, and may be more sensitive than immunofixation for detection of monoclonal free light chains. In some patients with non-secretory myeloma, systemic amyloidosis, or light chain deposition disease, the nephelometric free light chain assay provides a positive identification of a monoclonal serum light chain when the serum immunofixation is negative.
