LaboratoryCytomegalovirus pp65 Ag/100000 PMN cells in Blood by Immunofluorescence
Definition
Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV) isolation from leukocytes of peripheral blood (viremia) and/or pp65 antigenemia are evidence for active systemic infection. The number of pp65-positive PMN (polymorphonuclear cells) per 10*5 PMN are reported. A single stained cell indicates positive antigenemia. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the submitter's CINAkit ARGENE Rapid Antigenemia test kit, which uses an indirect immunofluorescence method to detect internal matrix phosphoprotein (protein kinase) pp65 of HCMV.
