HCV RNA screening tests - Meaningful Use set

Definition

Panel for qualitative or quantitative screening for Hepatitis C virus RNA. This panel was created for Meaningful Use 3 as part of a project by the American Medical Association (AMA) to develop three Clinical Quality Measures for Hepatitis C - 1) One-Time Screening for HCV for Patients at Risk, 2) HCV Screening for Active Injection Drug Users, and 3) Appropriate Screening Follow-up for Patients with HCV Infection. This concept may be used by physicians to document that he/she has reviewed the HCV RNA test results performed by an outside lab. When the physician does not know which specific LOINC code to choose when documenting the test and results from the lab report, this more generic LOINC panel code can be used. The HCV RNA screening panel includes all HCV RNA tests used in screening, confirming or monitoring for HCV infection or HCV infection progress, except HCV RNA test that are used to determine therapeutic approaches to management of HCV infection, such as HCV RNA genotyping. In the eMeasure, this LOINC panel and associated LOINC codes will be included in a larger value set for the specific type of screening - HCV RNA Test.
