Laboratory

Enterovirus RNA [Cycle Threshold #] in Stool by NAA with probe detection

Definition

The quantitative cross/cycle threshold (Ct) value may be reported for real-time PCR-based assays. The value is defined by the number of PCR cycles required for the fluorescent signal of a given product (targeted RNA) to cross the threshold (i.e. exceed background level). In general, the lower the Ct value, the greater the amount of targeted nucleic acid and vice versa. The interpretation (e.g. positive, negative, indeterminate) is determined based on a cut-off value.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is LOINC code 74424-3?

LOINC code 74424-3 identifies "Enterovirus RNA [Cycle Threshold #] in Stool by NAA with probe detection".

What does 74424-3 measure?

This code measures Enterovirus RNA in Stool. It belongs to the MICRO class in the LOINC classification.

What is LOINC?

LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) is a universal standard for identifying laboratory and clinical observations. It is maintained by the Regenstrief Institute and used worldwide for health data exchange.
