74021-7
ClinicalGenetic risk algorithm
Definition
The genetic algorithm (e.g. BRCAPRO), or computer program, used to predict whether a patient has an inherited mutation in a given gene (e.g. BRCA1) and/or to determine their risk for developing a disease. The genetic algorithms are based on personal and family medical histories of a disease, such as breast and ovarian cancer. This term is based on, but not limited in use to, the Genetic Algorithm Used variable in the Family History section of the V2 VMR, based on the Family History Standard Implementation Guide (US Realm) 2012.
