51786-2
LaboratoryHIV 2 Ab Signal/Cutoff in Serum or Plasma by Immunoassay
Definition
Human Immunodeficiency Virus 2 (HIV2) Antibody Optical Density(OD) to Cutoff (CO) Ratio. Optical density values are providing and indication of the amount of color development during the testing procedure. Color development is proportionate to the antibody concentration in the specimen. A mathematical formula based on the negative controls multiplied by a factor produces a cutoff(CO) value to which the OD of the ptient sample is compared to determine the antibody status. Specimens with OD/CO values greater than 1.0 in an indirect ELISA method are considered positive.
