47361-1
LaboratoryTreponema pallidum IgG Ab [Presence] in Serum from Donor by Immunoassay
Definition
This test is intended to be used as a primary screening test for the diagnosis of infection with Treponema pallidum, the causative agent for Syphilis. This test has been approved by the FDA for the screening of donors of human cells, tissues, and tissue-based products. A Positive Syphilis antibody test result is indicative of an acute or chronic infection with T. pallidum, and may be used to disqualify a potential cell or tissue donor. This test is not intended to be used for routine clinical diagnostic testing. False Positive results are known to occur, especially for patients with Lyme disease.
