42727-8
LaboratoryFibrin D-dimer [Mass/volume] in Cerebral spinal fluid by Latex agglutination
Definition
The CSF assay is a manual, semiquantitative, slide latex agglutination assay. One of three results are reported-- <250 ug/L (considered negative), 250-500 ug/L, or >500 ug/L. Results are in D-dimer units. The test is used to differentiate between subarachnoid hemorrhage and other causes in CNS bleeding (positive), and a traumatic (ie, bloody) spinal tap (negative).
