ClinicalFLACC pain assessment panel
Definition
The Faces, Legs, Activity, Arms, Cry, and Consolability (FLACC) scale is a behavioral pain assessment scale that can be used with non/preverbal patients (young children). The original FLACC was revised to include additional specific descriptors and parent-identified expressions or behaviors representing pain in cognitively impaired children. Zero, one, or two points are assigned to each of the five categories. The total score ranges from zero to ten. Total scores reflect behavioral indicators of distress severity, but should not be used, in and of themselves, to guide medication decision-making.
